May is LEAVE A LEGACY™ month in Manitoba – the time when a local volunteer-driven group promotes the idea of charitable giving. LEAVE A LEGACY™ Manitoba is a program of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners Manitoba Roundtable. The program encourages all Manitobans to consider making a planned gift to a charitable organization of their choice – either during their lifetimes or through a bequest in a will or estate plan. Virtually every Manitoban’s life has been touched by the work of a charitable organization. If you’ve attended a summer camp or a theatre performance, belong to a church or community group or have received medical care or social services, you’ve seen a charitable organization in action. LEAVE A LEGACY™ Manitoba is supported by the more than 120 charities that participate in the program, as well as by local professional associations and media that endorse and sponsor the program. LEAVE A LEGACY™ Manitoba does not solicit or accept donations; it simply raises awareness about the concept of planned giving and provides participating charities with the tools to approach potential donors.
